What is the problem you are trying to solve?
We’ve been testing and evaluating Analytics Cloud for the last 2 months, and I wanted to share our feedback collected from both Technical and Business users.
The first functional area I wanted to describe is Interests. This is a great concept that could provide us with insights into the actual thematic areas our users are most interested in. There are a couple of issues, though, that make the tool not very useful in its current form.
First of all, we have our own Taxonomy (a couple of Vocabularies with lots of categories). Some of the Vocabularies represent the actual thematic areas (e.g., the Themes vocabulary with categories like Climate, Capital Markets, or Crops), while the others just provide some additional metadata for articles (e.g., vocabularies like Country, Region, or Year). In this case, we’re interested in tracking views only for Themes, and the other Vocabularies are not relevant at all.
In the current form, the Interests tab (from the Sites section) provides a blended list of categories, tags, and keywords extracted from titles and descriptions, so it is not possible to track what we need.
Proposed Solution
Ideally, we should be able to filter the stats for Interests coming from selected Vocabularies or categories. It would also be good to be able to export them to an Excel file with columns like Vocabulary, Category, Sessions, % of Sessions.
