Hi everyone, just in case you haven’t seen my Blog post on liferay.dev we have made a couple of tweaks to the Free Tier to reduce friction and improve reliability.
Specifically:
- As of 2026.q1.2 all Databases that are included in the Compatibility Matrix for Liferay DXP can be used with the Free Tier. So, that includes Oracle, SQL Server, etc.
- Each Quarter, instead of limiting the free tier to the .0 release, we are going to be more pragmatic and ensure that you are given access to a robust, stable version. As of today, for the Q1 release, that will be the 2026.q1.2 release.
If you’ve already got an Activation Key for 2026.q1.0, the good news is that it will continue to work with 2026.q1.2. All you’ll need to do is download the latest bundle, or pull the latest docker image. Details for both are available at:
