Liferay DXP 2026.Q1 LTS - OpenSearch Support

Hello!

By looking at the search engine compatibility matrix (https://support.liferay.com/w/search-engine-compatibility-matrix ), it seems that the newest Liferay version (2026.Q1) does not yet support OpenSearch and a new connector will be released on the marketplace.

The Liferay Nexus seems to contain newer versions of OpenSearch sources (1.2.0 API and 1.0.18 IMPL, https://repository.liferay.com/nexus/#view-repositories;liferay-public-releases~browsestorage )

Can you give us an estimate on when this connector will be released?

Is there a way to get OpenSearch running with 2026.Q1? The old configuration for 2025.Q4 (https://learn.liferay.com/w/dxp/search/installing-and-upgrading-a-search-engine/opensearch/installing-opensearch ) does not work anymore (even when changing the blacklisting config from elasticsearch7 to elastichsearch8)

We are running DXP 2026.q1.0-lts with Opensearch 2.16.0

  1. Get any opensearch2-connector from marketplace
  2. Get connector jars from releases-cdn (tested with api v1.1.1 and impl v1.0.17)
  3. Replace jars inside .lpkg
  4. Configure connector:
    OpenSearchConfiguration.config and
    OpenSearchConnectionConfiguration-REMOTE.config
  5. Configure BundleBlacklistConfiguration.config
