Forms are easier than the new alternatives (feature-keeping request)

Hi all

The Forms API has been deprecated and Form were put in Maintenance status. This sends the users a clear message: Forms are not going to be available in the future.

I’m working with a customer that has 100+ forms with custom fields in 7.2 and a ModelListener to process them. They need to upgrade and they are considering options.

Moving to Objects + Form Fragments is not very appealing for a non-tech content manager. With Forms, they design everything with just one UI and simple concepts. With the new alternatives, they need to use two different concepts (Objects + Pages/Fragments) and the way to map them to each other.

Is there any chance that we might be able to continue to use the Forms definition UI AND make it work with Objects?

TIA

Fernando

Forms are still available in latest version and yes, it is in maintenance mode so is Web Content, Documents & media module and few other modules. It doesn’t mean its going to be removed, but won’t receive any new feature updates. So when you upgrade, all your forms should continue to work.

From what I can see from the new releases (the new CMS), is Liferay is building Liferay using Objects ( Liferay Content Management System - Liferay Official Documentation - Liferay Learn ).

You can read more about maintenance mode at What “Maintenance” Means for the Traditional Liferay CMS - Liferay
