Easiest ways to hide site illustrative images from search results?

Hi all

I’m looking for suggestions on the easiest ways to exclude certain images from the search page results.

In our site’s document library we have many documents and images we want to show in the search results but others, like site illustrations. icons, etc., we don’t want to show in search.

I have some ideas based on custom filter or blueprints but all seem hard to implement. I think the simplest way would be to have a list of “exclude folders” but I’m not seeing an easy way to implement this.

Any suggestions?

TIA

I’d say the ease to filter them out (blueprint or else) depends on the criteria you can use to describe them.

How do you organize those unwanted images? One easy suggestion might be to collect them all in a single explicit Asset Library (or a few Asset Libraries), and exclude those from search. This also makes their use kind of explicit when using them in content.

Tagging or categorizing them would be yet another one. And you mention specific folders yourself. Naming conventions could help - if only to later reorganize them through API means (but I’d rather go with the more structured ways mentioned before)

We currently have them in certain folders inside the document library. Too bad we didn't think of using an asset library for this. I think it's a very good idea.

How do you exclude assets from a specif asset library from search?

A search blueprint would be an option to do so
