What is the problem you are trying to solve?

We want to track user activity through Liferay Audit logs. Currently, the Audit UI and audit records only provide the user name and userId, which is not sufficient for our security team. They also require the user’s email address for better traceability and monitoring.

We are requesting OOTB support for:

  • Persisting userEmailAddress in the Audit UI and audit database records through configuration.

  • Extending/customizing Audit UI fields and granular action details without custom development.

  • Allowing configuration-based inclusion of additional user metadata in audit events.

Hi,
Based on the official Liferay Audit Framework documentation, Liferay provides out-of-the-box support for including userEmailAddress in audit log output (via Audit Log Context) and in exported audit CSV files.

However, there is currently no out-of-the-box configuration to display the email address in the Audit UI, persist it as a dedicated field in the audit database records, or include additional custom user metadata in audit events through configuration alone.
Such requirements would require customization or consideration as a product enhancement request.
