Jakarta EE 11 support

Liferay has supported Jakarta EE 10 since Liferay 2025.Q3, which is great news.
Thanks to all the Liferay teams who made this possible!

The next natural step could be Jakarta EE 11 because:

  • a Tomcat version aligned with Jakarta EE 11 has been available since April 2025 (Tomcat 11.0.6)

  • some open-source libraries and frameworks already require Jakarta EE 11 (for example the latest versions of Spring, Apache CXF, Hibernate Validator, as well as many JSF frameworks)

Is there any plan or roadmap for Liferay to support Jakarta EE 11?

Thanks for sharing your interest in Jakarta EE 11. We want to evolve the platform while ensuring ongoing compatibility across our supported application servers. Other major app servers like Red Hat JBoss and Oracle WebLogic are currently limited to Jakarta EE 10 and 9 respectively. As the wider ecosystem catches up, we will be evaluating this move for Liferay.
