**What is the problem you are trying to solve?** When using Asset Categories with Display Page Templates in Liferay, the generated URLs are based on the technical category ID (for example, `/v/131834`) instead of the category’s configured Friendly URL. Although categories support the definition of a Friendly URL through **Categorization → Categories → Edit Category → Friendly URL** , this Friendly URL is currently only used by a specific Liferay Commerce functionality and is not integrated with the general Category Display Page Template mechanism. As a result, when accessing a category display page, the URL always contains the category ID rather than the configured Friendly URL. This limitation prevents the creation of meaningful, user-friendly, and SEO-friendly URLs for category pages. Our use case requires category pages to be accessible through their configured Friendly URLs instead of technical identifiers. **What is your project about? (e. g. Intranet, Partner Portal, Enterprise Website, etc)** Enterprise Website / Public Web Portal using Liferay Display Page Templates to expose categorized content through dedicated category landing pages. **What is your proposed solution? (optional)** Allow Category Display Page Templates to resolve and generate URLs using the category’s configured Friendly URL instead of the category ID. For example: **Current behavior:** `https://mywebsite.com/v/131834` **Expected behavior:** `https://mywebsite.com/v/category-name` Additionally, Liferay Support confirmed that this limitation is already tracked through **[LPD-927](https://liferay.atlassian.net/browse/LPD-927)** and that a feature request is open. ---

Hello, I’ve also noticed this issue as well. This feature is already there in Liferay, but is used only for Commerce scenarios. Liferay has two different handlers for category friendly URLs: - core one: [AssetCategoryAssetDisplayPageFriendlyURLResolver](https://github.com/liferay/liferay-portal/blob/7.4.3.132-ga132/modules/apps/asset/asset-categories-admin-web/src/main/java/com/liferay/asset/categories/admin/web/internal/info/display/page/portlet/AssetCategoryAssetDisplayPageFriendlyURLResolver.java) - simple one: hard-coded “/v/” separator, IDs in URLs - used for all general scenarios - commerce one: [AssetCategoryAssetDisplayPageFriendlyURLResolver](https://github.com/liferay/liferay-portal/blob/7.4.3.132-ga132/modules/apps/commerce/commerce-product-content-web/src/main/java/com/liferay/commerce/product/content/web/internal/asset/display/page/portlet/AssetCategoryAssetDisplayPageFriendlyURLResolver.java) - “smart” one: configurable separator, urlTitle in URL - used ONLY for specific commerce scenarios I’ve requested Liferay to combine these features (see for more detail: [LPD-66934](https://liferay.atlassian.net/browse/LPD-66934)), but there seems to be no activity on it ☹ Regards, Vitalii ---
